“Nobody has to tell me this is serious business. I’m not fighting one man. I’m fighting a lot of men, showing a lot of ’em, here is one man they couldn’t defeat, couldn’t conquer. My mission is to bring freedom to 30 million black people.”
In 1975, Muhammad Ali wasn’t supposed to beat George Foreman in Zaire. But he did. The underdog became the inspiration of the sporting world. The man who talked the talk once again became the man who walked the walk. His fight was always more than a single boxing match, but the ring was symbolic enough to see the essence of his aim.
As part of our Black History Month collection, we celebrate the great Muhammad Ali!
