We worked closely with World Series champion, Cy Young Award winner, and one of the famed ‘Black Aces’, CC Sabathia to bring you this powerful collaboration. CC coordinated the program and acted as Creative Director. We partnered with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, and our partners at Jackie Robinson’s family to make this collection come to life.

Proceeds from all sales will benefit the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum’s efforts to preserve and celebrate the rich history of African American baseball and its significance in the social advancement of America at large. Furthermore, when legendary former players are featured in the collection, proceeds will also go directly to them or their estates.

Satchel Paige, was a pitching legend in the Negro leagues long before Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier. Among his many spectacular achievements was coming back to pitch three innings at the age of 59 years old, making him the oldest man to play in a major league baseball game.

Paige’s career was characterized by remarkable showmanship, incredible longevity and amazing athletic ability. His flair and ability could have made him an easy choice to break the color barrier in the MLB. But when he heard that Jackie Robinson had been signed and not him, his first reaction was poised and perfect, “You couldn’t have picked a better guy.”

In many ways, Paige paved the way for Robinson to be the first black athlete ever to play in the MLB. He suffered deeply from the racism that marred his times, but his suffering was not in vain. Though he may not have known it at the time, everything he endured brought baseball and black history closer and closer to the equality that Paige fought so hard to achieve.
